For Anuhea, going to the farmer’s market on Kauai with her mom was always part of their weekend routine. “We would get there early and my mom would give me money to buy a bag of mixed greens from the lettuce vendor while she bought other vegetables at another booth. We’d huddle around our favorite vendors until the bell rang signifying the start of the market so that we could make our transactions and browse the rest of the farmer’s market goods. I loved getting honey straws and sampling the different exotic fruits!”
Going to the farmer’s market is still one of our favorite ways to support small local businesses today. It is actually a place where we have found many of the businesses we partner with through My Aloha Post. We wish we could send you a large bag of hydroponic organic lettuce, fresh lychee and homemade banana bread but instead we curated a box that is inspired by our weekly farmer’s market outings. And, in continuing with our summer of sustainability, these companies also strive to be eco-friendly!
