Chihiro of Cheehilo Handmade Soap found herself living in Hawaii after a dream that changed her life. Originally from Japan, she dreamt of beautiful beaches, swaying coconut trees, and being surrounded by friends who spoke English. (Which was unusual at a time when she did not yet speak English herself.)
“When I woke up, I felt like I really needed to move there, like it was the mission of my life, but I didn’t know where I was dreaming about… I went to work and told my boss about the weird dream and my boss told me “its Hawai’i!” And as soon as my boss pronounced “Hawai’i” I was filled of JOY. I was like ʻYes!! this is it! I’m moving to Hawai’i!ʻ” Two years after this life changing dream, Chihiro found herself in Hilo, Hawaii.
Here at My Aloha Post weʻre always inspired by the special moments that each of us have with Hawaii. Whether you have lived here all your life, visited here or just dreamed of coming here! Chihiroʻs story hit home with us, as we hope it does for you who recognize a feeling of pure joy when you think of or arrive to Hawaii.
Chihiro started making her handmade soaps 6 years ago in the hopes of creating a soap that could help her own skin problems. “I had a thought. Hawai’i always inspires me, the sunshine, breeze, salt water, and rain…. but what can I do for Hawai’i? It came to me; to express my gratitude for Hawai’i, I should share my handmade soaps and skincare products that represent the beauty of Hawai’i.”
Chihiroʻs Lavender and Geranium Lomi Butter is featured in our premium Lei Chic: Modern Indulgence Box. Not only are the Lomi Butters meant for moisturizing but also for “Lomilomi” or massage.
“I wanted people to treat themselves so I created it. You can use Lomi butter as body lotion to moisturize the skin but as you apply it on your skin, I highly recommend you massage. [The butter] includes arnica infused Hawaiian macadamia nut oil as an ingredient, which stimulates your blood circulation helping reduce muscle soreness and swelling from tired legs.”
